Softball Recap: Dayton Comes Up Short

Dayton blew Summit out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Summit got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since April 3rd.

Dayton has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.2 runs. As for Summit, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dayton will host Johnson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Summit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Knoll at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
