Basketball Recap: Dobson Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Red Mountain, Dobson was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 61-60 win over the Cesar Chavez Champions. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Champions, too.

Among those leading the charge was Alex Rios, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points. Kayah Key was another key player, putting up six points.

Despite the loss, Cesar Chavez still got an impressive performance from Gabriel Briones, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Briones' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Omar Wilson, who posted ten points.

Dobson's record is now 7-8. As for Cesar Chavez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Dobson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 75-25 defeat against Mesa on the 17th. As for Cesar Chavez, they will venture away from home to square off against Browne at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st. Cesar Chavez is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season.
