Baseball Recap: Renaissance Comes Up Short

Renaissance extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 10-9. They came up short against the Cass Tech Technicians, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Technicians this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-0 loss two weeks ago.

As for Cass Tech, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 22-8. Considering they have won 17 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Cass Tech's part, Chris Hooper made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Hooper has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Jelani Jabari was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Khari Kumasi was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Renaissance will challenge River Rouge at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Phoenix's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Cass Tech, they will head out to take on Bloomfield Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
