Basketball Recap: Toms River North Find Success

Toms River North posted their closest win since January 16, 2024 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Manchester Township Hawks, sneaking past 40-37. For the Mariners, this counts as revenge for the 73-55 victory the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Manchester Township lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Marisiya Goins, who posted nine points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Goins a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Nolan, who put up ten points and five steals.

The win got Toms River North back to even at 5-5. As for Manchester Township, they moved to 7-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Toms River North will square off against Donovan Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Manchester Township, they will challenge Ocean Township at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
