Softball Recap: Franklin County Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

After losing to Blountstown the last time they met, Franklin County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Seahawks came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 8-4 on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Seahawks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Sarah Ham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Peyton Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Charity Larkin was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Franklin County's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Blountstown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin County will venture away from home to challenge Chiles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Seahawks 2.3, the Timberwolves 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Blountstown, they will head out to square off against Wewahitchka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Gators at the right time seeing as the Gators are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
