Softball Recap: St. Mary Catholic Drops Season-High Score on Howards Grove

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Mary Catholic). They put the hurt on the Howards Grove Tigers with a sharp 20-4 victory on Wednesday. The Zephyrs haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Gabrielle Guerrero made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. That hit was her first of the season. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Weiss, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Moder, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

St. Mary Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

St. Mary Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Howards Grove, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary Catholic will square off against Shiocton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Howards Grove, they will take on Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
