St. Joseph Catholic has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Jackson Prep Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Jackson Prep is ranked 23rd).
Last Friday, St. Joseph Catholic was beaten by Hartfield Academy 43-15. St. Joseph Catholic was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-0.
Although St. Joseph Catholic took the loss, they still got scores from Keyshaun Coleman and Kaleb Gray.
Meanwhile, Jackson Prep fought the good fight in their overtime match against Madison-Ridgeland Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Patriots 50-44. Jackson Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jackson Prep's defeat came about despite a quality game from Billy Puckett, who threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Mccraney, who picked up 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
St. Joseph Catholic now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Jackson Prep, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season.
St. Joseph Catholic was dealt a bruising 59-10 defeat at the hands of Jackson Prep in their previous meeting back in September of 2018. Thankfully for St. Joseph Catholic, Angelo Levon (who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
