Basketball Game Preview: Cayuga Wildcats vs. Martins Mill Mustangs

Cayuga hasn't had much luck against Martins Mill recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cayuga Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Martins Mill Mustangs at 6:15 p.m.

Cayuga is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They fell 47-35 to Alba-Golden.

Meanwhile, Martins Mill came tearing into Friday's game with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 64-45 victory over the Indians. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Indians are ranked 575th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cayuga better keep an eye on Jak Kinder. He was instrumental in Martins Mill's win, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points and six assists. Kinder's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 23 points. Travis Baber was another key player, putting up six points along with six assists and six boards.

Martins Mill's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 30-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.0 points over those games. As for Cayuga, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-14.

Cayuga was taken down by Martins Mill 84-39 in their previous meeting back in January. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cayuga was down 49-15.
