Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Prairie Gophers vs. Lebanon Tigers

Clinton Prairie hasn't had much luck against Lebanon recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Gophers will head out to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clinton Prairie has four straight victories, Lebanon has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Clinton Prairie's win against North Montgomery wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Gophers had just enough and edged out the Chargin' Chargers 7-6 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Gophers have posted since April 17th.

Jackson Price made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Price was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Price wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kye Jacobs, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Jacobs a new career-high. Elijah Edwards was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Lebanon suffered their closest defeat since April 24th on Saturday. They fell just short of Cascade by a score of 5-3.

Chase Rubi made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

Clinton Prairie's record is now 13-4. As for Lebanon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-17.

Clinton Prairie came up short against Lebanon when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 7-4. Can the Gophers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
