Basketball Game Preview: GVCS Broadfording Lions vs. Grace Academy Knights

GVCS Broadfording has gone 10-0 against Grace Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The GVCS Broadfording Lions will welcome the Grace Academy Knights at 8:30 p.m. GVCS Broadfording knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Grace Academy likes a good challenge.

GVCS Broadfording is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Bishop Walsh: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that GVCS Broadfording blew Bishop Walsh out of the water with a 71-35 final score. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

GVCS Broadfording found their leader in sophomore Fernando Garcia, who went 8 of 13 en route to 23 points and five steals. Garcia is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nashon Mann, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 15 points.

GVCS Broadfording smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Grace Academy played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 81-25 loss at the hands of Heritage Academy. The contest marked the Knights' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Grace Academy dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for GVCS Broadfording, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Everything went GVCS Broadfording's way against Grace Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as GVCS Broadfording made off with a 67-46 win.
