Softball Recap: Tulia Hornets vs. Lamesa Tornadoes
Tulia and Lamesa squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Tulia had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Lamesa Tornadoes by a score of 4-3.
Kyla Rodriguez was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Rodriguez has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive pitching appearances. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Tulia's loss dropped their record down to 19-15-2. As for Lamesa, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3-1.
Tulia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lamesa, they will head out on the road to face off against River Road at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in River Road's favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last four matchups.
