Softball Recap: Providence's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Providence faced Union Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Casey Tomljanovic was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Pheonix Scott, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Providence's loss dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Union Academy, the win keeps they at an undefeated 16-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence will challenge Marvin Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 3.7, the Mavericks 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Union Academy, they will head out to challenge Albemarle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
