Football Game Preview: Cheshire Rams vs. North Haven Nighthawks

The Cheshire Rams are taking a road trip to take on the North Haven Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cheshire is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Wilton, who was ranked 16th at the time (Cheshire was ranked 21st). The Rams fell 28-21 to the Warriors on Friday. The loss put an end to the Rams' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for North Haven on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Bristol Central out of the water with a 40-12 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Nighthawks had established a 21-point advantage.

Cheshire better keep an eye on Artie McCormack IV. He was instrumental in North Haven's win, rushing for 187 yards and three scores while picking up 11.0 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards McCormack IV has posted since back in October of 2024.

North Haven was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 328 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 207 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cheshire fell to 2-1. As for North Haven, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Cheshire came up short against North Haven when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 16-10. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
