            Football Recap: Santa Maria Saints vs. Cabrillo Conquistadores        
        
		
        
        
            
Santa Maria extended their losing streak  (dating back to last season) to ten  on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They were beaten by the Cabrillo Conquistadores 55-0. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 923rd, while the Conquistadores are ranked 393rd).
 Christian Alejo threw for 117 yards  on 11 of 26 attempts.   Daveion Styles was his top target, picking up 76 receiving yards.  On the ground,  Aiden Gonzales rushed for 58 yards.
As for Cabrillo, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 42.8 points over those games.
 Cabrillo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Andrew Wallace, who rushed for 143 yards and three  touchdowns on only six carries. Those  three  rushing touchdowns gave  Wallace a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jacob Baraceros, who gained 131 total yards and two touchdowns.
 Santa Maria wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  contest,  a  42-6  defeat against Pioneer Valley on the 30th. As for Cabrillo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  matchup,  a  29-23  loss against Templeton on the 30th.
