Basketball Recap: Tri County Takes a Loss

Tri County was the 43-24 winner over Exeter-Milligan/Friend when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tri County Trojans took a 58-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Bobcats are ranked 30th).

When it comes to explaining why Tri County lost, don't look at Drew Siems. Despite the final result, he posted 25 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 53.2% of Tri County's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Caleb Schnuelle was another key player, putting up eight points.

Mason Vossler was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards for Exeter-Milligan/Friend. Vossler is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Vossler, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 17 points.

Tri County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Tri County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-48 victory against Fairbury on the 9th. Exeter-Milligan/Friend has also already played their next match, a 54-48 win against Southern on the 9th.
