Basketball Recap: Greenville Comes Up Short

Greenville played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Canton Tigers 61-22. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Martaviah Rhodes, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Rhodes a new career-high in points.

Shamira Morton was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten boards for Canton. Morton is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Journee Brown was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Greenville's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Canton, they pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenville will take on Cleveland Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Canton, they will square off against Yazoo City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
