Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Samantha Johnson and Ella Zechman Lead Niwot to Victory

Niwot not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 17th (when they won 57-27). They put the hurt on the Mountain Range Mustangs with a sharp 51-30 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Leading Niwot to victory were Ella Zechman and Samantha Johnson. Zechman posted 15 points and six rebounds, while Johnson scored six points along with five boards and four steals. Those 15 points gave Zechman a new career-high. LilyRae Bernstein was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Mountain Range lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Delilah Lucero, who earned eight points in addition to nine boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lia Palmer, who put up nine points and eight rebounds.

Niwot has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Niwot will take on Pomona at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mountain Range, they will square off against Wheat Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
