Baseball Game Preview: Brodhead/Juda Cardinals vs. Jefferson Eagles

Brodhead/Juda is 1-8-1 against Jefferson since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cardinals will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:45 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

On Thursday, Brodhead/Juda narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Evansville 11-9.

Brodhead/Juda got a great performance from Brooks Malkow as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. What's more, Malkow posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on David Masloske, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyrin Foster, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Brodhead/Juda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Jefferson made easy work of Monroe on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 win.

Brodhead/Juda's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
