Baseball Recap: Chaparral Find Success

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Chaparral had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vista Grande Spartans, sneaking past 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Firebirds have posted since March 6th.

Chaparral got a great performance from Ryan Penney as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Chaparral's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Foley, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Chaparral and bumps their season record up to 16-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Vista Grande, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Chaparral nor Vista Grande have any future games scheduled.
