Basketball Recap: Spring Valley Gets the Win

Coronado came into Wednesday's match looking for another win against Spring Valley, but Mia Ervin wouldn't allow it. The Spring Valley Grizzlies came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coronado Cougars on Wednesday, sneaking past 47-45 thanks in part to Ervin, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Coronado lost, don't look at Scarlet Lopez. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 7 en route to 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Zimmerman, who posted eight points and five boards.

Spring Valley's record now sits at 12-8. As for Coronado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Spring Valley has already played their next contest, a 49-46 defeat against Faith Lutheran on the 31st. As for Coronado, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-48 loss against Shadow Ridge on the 31st.
