Softball Recap: Franklin-Simpson Comes Up Short

Franklin-Simpson was the 6-5 winner over Lyon County when they last played one another back in March of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell just short of the Lyons by a score of 8-7 on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by just one run.

Franklin-Simpson has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Lyon County, they moved to 7-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Franklin-Simpson will square off against Allen County-Scottsville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lyon County, they will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Central Hardin at 9:00 a.m.
