Baseball Recap: Riviera Prep Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Riviera Prep's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-2 back in February.

Antonio Garcia was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those five hits gave him a new career-high.

Riviera Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

With the victory, Riviera Prep broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Riviera Prep will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ransom Everglades at 2:00 p.m. on March 17th. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, they will take on Downtown Doral at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Downtown Doral is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
