Softball Recap: Waynesfield-Goshen Has No Trouble Against Hardin Northern

Waynesfield-Goshen hadn't done well against Hardin Northern recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Polar Bears 11-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Tarynn Vorhes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Taryn Tate was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. S. Spillis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Waynesfield-Goshen lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Waynesfield-Goshen's record now sits at 5-3. As for Hardin Northern, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Coming up, Waynesfield-Goshen will take on North Baltimore at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Baltimore will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Waynesfield-Goshen surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hardin Northern, they will welcome Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Polar Bears are facing the Commodores at the right time seeing as the Commodores are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
