Softball Recap: Pettisville Beats Holgate for Their Third Straight Victory

Pettisville won against North Central on Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Blackbirds blew past the Holgate Tigers 12-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Blackbirds, who have now won three matches in a row.

Sophia Beltz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Abbi Opdycke also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Pettisville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Pettisville's record is now 6-4. As for Holgate, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Pettisville will head out to challenge North Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Holgate, they will welcome Patrick Henry at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 12.6 runs per game this season.
