Basketball Recap: Hibriten Panthers vs. Bessemer City Yellow Jackets
Hibriten was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a 67-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bessemer City Yellow Jackets. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 530th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 174th).
Bessemer City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Josiah Guyton out in front who went 5 for 8 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Guyton is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Gordon, who posted 13 points and eight assists.
