Volleyball Game Preview: La Salle Academy Rams vs. Barrington Eagles

The La Salle Academy Rams will head out on the road to take on the Barrington Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

La Salle Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: East Providence, who was ranked fifth at the time (La Salle Academy was ranked sixth). The Rams took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Townies on Tuesday.

While La Salle Academy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Barrington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Cranston West.

Barrington took Cranston West into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-17, 15-25, 22-25, 15-11.

La Salle Academy now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Barrington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: La Salle Academy has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.5 aces per game. However, it's not like Barrington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
