For the first time this season, Otay Ranch will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge the Olympian Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Otay Ranch is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Monte Vista 13-3 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Mustangs with their most commanding win of the season.
Santiago Araiza looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Medina, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Cory Salazar also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Otay Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Olympian made easy work of Windward on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Eagles have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Luis Mercado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
On the hitting side, Sebastian Diaz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Nico Cintron was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Olympian pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Otay Ranch, their record now sits at 10-4.
Otay Ranch skirted past Olympian 5-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
