Basketball Recap: Malta Now 15-1 over Last 16 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Malta had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-33 victory over the Jefferson Panthers. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 43-33 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2022.

Jefferson's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Toney, who posted 11 points and seven boards. Toney is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Meredith Rieder was another key player, putting up a point and five rebounds.

Malta is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Jefferson and nudges their season record down to 21-6.

Malta has already played their next game (against Florence-Carlton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
