Football Game Preview: Poteau Pirates vs. McLain Science & Tech Titans + Official Tickets

Poteau is a perfect 4-0 against McLain Science & Tech since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Pirates will face off against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. McLain Science & Tech took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Poteau, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Poteau was able to grind out a solid win over Glenpool, taking the game 28-17. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Warriors are ranked 142nd).

Poteau's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Spencer Perry, who rushed for 158 yards. The Pirates also got help from Jacob Gutierrez, who showed off his sure hands for 93 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 55 points the game before, McLain Science & Tech was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a blow against Sallisaw, falling 45-7. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Black Diamonds recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Poteau pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.7 points over those games. As for McLain Science & Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Poteau took their victory against McLain Science & Tech in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 35-13 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
