Portage Northern waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Lakeview Spartans with a sharp 50-28 win. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Spartans are ranked 320th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Portage Northern's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lakeview, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portage Northern will head out to challenge Gull Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies will be up against the Blue Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lakeview, they are taking a road trip to square off against Kalamazoo Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
