Baseball Recap: Midlakes Find Success

The Midlakes Screaming Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Clyde-Savannah Golden Eagles on Saturday.

Braxton Wilkes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Midlakes saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Martin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Cohen Egburtson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Midlakes' win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Clyde-Savannah, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Midlakes has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against North Rose-Wolcott on the 4th. As for Clyde-Savannah, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-1 victory against Lyons on the 4th.
