The Miamisburg Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Fairmont Firebirds at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Miamisburg came out on top against Centerville on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Vikings took their contest against the Elks 6-2. The game was the first time the Vikings have beaten the Elks on their field since April 12, 2023.
Rhianna Pigman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lauren Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikaela Holp, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fairmont was able to grind out a solid win over Springfield on Monday, taking the game 7-4. The victory continues a trend for the Firebirds in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
Jaylin Turner made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Turner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Fairmont let Carlee Netherton and Paige Russell run wild. Netherton went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Russell went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Amy Osman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Miamisburg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Fairmont, their record now sits at 10-6.
