Basketball Game Preview: Yorba Linda Mustangs vs. Villa Park Spartans

Yorba Linda hasn't had much luck against Villa Park recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Yorba Linda Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Villa Park Spartans at 8:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Yorba Linda comes in on seven and Villa Park on three.

Yorba Linda will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 24) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Sonora out 55-52. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Raiders are ranked 618th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything went Villa Park's way against Troy on Friday as Villa Park made off with a 76-56 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Yorba Linda has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Villa Park, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.

Yorba Linda skirted past Villa Park 72-70 when the teams last played on January 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yorba Linda since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
