Basketball Recap: Katy Taylor Takes a Loss

Katy Taylor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost to the Mayde Creek Rams on the road by a 67-53 margin. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 660th, while the Rams are ranked 271st).

Katy Taylor's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Mayde Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.

Katy Taylor will welcome Morton Ranch at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Morton Ranch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Katy Taylor likes a good challenge. As for Mayde Creek, they are taking a road trip to square off against Jordan at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Elijah Black and Christian Gibson.
