Recap: Winter Haven Blue Devils vs. Edgewater Eagles
The Winter Haven Blue Devils had already won 19 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it 20 on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 93-69 margin over Edgewater. Winter Haven has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.
Isaac Celiscar was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 39 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Phillips jr, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists.
Despite the defeat, Edgewater saw an underclassman step up: Donovan Williams Jr. scored 25 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Ethan Simon was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Winter Haven pushed their record up to 20-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home. As for Edgewater, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winter Haven will take on Mainland at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Edgewater, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Olympia at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Olympia's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
