Softball Recap: North Providence Comes Up Short

North Providence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They came up short against the Woonsocket Villa Novans, falling 18-6. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Villa Novans earlier this season, when they won 12-1.

Makenna Heon was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Adrianna Fortin was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

North Providence's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Woonsocket, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-11.

Coming up, North Providence will be playing at home against Scituate at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Woonsocket, they will head out on the road to square off against Barrington at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Villa Novans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
