Basketball Recap: Yavneh Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Highlands last Monday, Yavneh Academy came back down to earth. The Yavneh Academy Bulldogs took a 76-58 bruising from the DasCHE Spartans on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were down 61-38 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Yavneh Academy lost, don't look at Darren Sacher. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-17 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Sacher's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Brendy Eber was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to eight assists and five boards.

Leading DasCHE to victory were Amaree Saffold and Moses Obudo. Saffold went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 20 points, while Obudo went 6-for-9 en route to 14 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. DasCHE is 7-1 when Obudo posts three or more blocks, but 11-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Walker, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 12 points and five boards.

Yavneh Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for DasCHE, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-13.

Yavneh Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 80-23 victory against Dallas International on the 12th. DasCHE has also already played their next contest (against Harmony School of Innovation Fort Worth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
