Soccer Game Preview: Seven Lakes vs. Tompkins

The Seven Lakes Spartans will face off against the Tompkins Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Seven Lakes sitting on five straight wins and Tompkins on four.

Seven Lakes had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Paetow on Friday. Everything went Seven Lakes' way against Paetow as Seven Lakes made off with a 5-0 victory. The score was close at the half, but the Spartans pulled away in the second half with four goals.

Meanwhile, Tompkins sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Cinco Ranch on Friday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Cougars are ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seven Lakes' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three contests. As for Tompkins, their win bumped their record up to 16-1.

Seven Lakes came up short against Tompkins in their previous matchup back in January, falling 2-0. Can Seven Lakes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
