Baseball Recap: Cyprus Comes Up Short

Cyprus fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Orem on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Orem Tigers by a score of 5-4. The Pirates were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in March of 2015.

Nick Griffel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Cyprus' record now sits at 4-2. As for Orem, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cyprus will head out to challenge Stansbury at 3:30 p.m. on March 18th. As for Orem, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Desert Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Orem has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
