Baseball Game Preview: Borger Bulldogs vs. Randall Raiders

Borger hasn't had much luck against Randall recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 12 defeats in a row, Borger turned things around against Perryton on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Lincoln Buchanan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Tony Phillips was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Randall had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Rangers 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since March 7th.

Randall pushed their record up to 18-8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Borger, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-10 and their overall record up to 8-16.

Borger might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Randall in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
