Football Recap: Ryder Sawyer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Douglas over Gervais + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Douglas can now relate to. They took a 44-29 bruising from the Gervais Cougars on Friday. The Trojans gained 168 more yards on the day, but it was the Cougars that made the best use of them.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryder Sawyer, who threw for 285 yards and four touchdowns. Nalo Driscoll was Sawyer's top target, picking up 83 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Johnny Mariano was his usual excellent self, rushing for 89 yards and two TDs for Gervais. Alex Toran also deserves some recognition as he posted his first receiving yards of the season.

Douglas' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5. As for Gervais, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Douglas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gervais, they will take on Cascade Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Challengers have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten matchups.
