Recap: Lincoln County Lions vs. Stillwater Christian Cougars
The Lincoln County Lions pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stillwater Christian. Lincoln County lost against Stillwater Christian in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-47 score last time.
Despite the defeat, Lincoln County saw an underclassman step up: Haidyn Guckenberg dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Guckenberg continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Taylor Truman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Lincoln County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Stillwater Christian, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.
Lincoln County will head out on the road to face off against Loyola-Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Loyola-Sacred Heart presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lincoln County in Montana (Loyola-Sacred Heart is ranked 17th, while Lincoln County is ranked 83rd). Stillwater Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Idaho Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th.
