Preview: Howard Huskies vs. Spalding Jaguars
Howard has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Spalding Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Howard suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. Their rough 60-35 defeat to Baldwin might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Howard has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Spalding waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They blew past West Laurens 82-44 on the road. Spalding has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 25 points or more this season.
Spalding's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bahji Daniel, who scored 18 points along with six assists and two steals. Daniel has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Curt Clark, who scored 19 points along with six assists and two steals.
Howard has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Spalding, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Howard suffered a grim 74-49 defeat to Spalding in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Howard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
