Basketball Recap: South Central Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

South Central hadn't done well against New Prairie recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The South Central Satellites walked away with a 57-46 victory over the New Prairie Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Satellites.

It was another big night for Jay Huerta, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Grass, who posted 11 points.

South Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, New Prairie still got an impressive performance from Brody Wiginton, who went 9 of 14 en route to 20 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Braden Bachmann, who had eight points and six rebounds.

South Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for New Prairie, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Central will venture away from home to square off against Morgan Township at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Central is facing Morgan Township at the right time seeing as Morgan Township is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for New Prairie, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the New Prairie Cougars take on the Elkhart Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
