Soccer Game Preview: Pana vs. Carlyle

The Pana Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pana's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Pana fell victim to Hillsboro and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to the Hiltoppers. While losing is never fun, Pana can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while Hillsboro are ranked 191st).

Meanwhile, Carlyle got the win against Valmeyer on Thursday by a conclusive 8-1. Considering Carlyle have won six matches by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory made it two in a row for Carlyle and bumps their season record up to 9-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those two matchups. As for Pana, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12-1.
