Recap: Wallace Wildcats vs. Mullen Broncos

The Wallace Wildcats fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Mullen Broncos on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos. Wallace lost against Mullen in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 54-23 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Wallace lost, one person who can't be blamed is Matt Lungrin. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. The game was Lungrin's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Masen Messersmith, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.

Wallace has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Mullen, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wallace will take on South Platte at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. South Platte is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Mullen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arthur County on Thursday.
