Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Decatur's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Decatur won the last time they faced Pocomoke and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Decatur Seahawks enjoyed a cozy 80-63 win over the Pocomoke Warriors. Given the Seahawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Warriors are ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Decatur got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Tucker out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Tucker is becoming a predictor of Decatur's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jonathan Purnell, who went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points and six assists.

Pocomoke's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JAYDEN MASON, who went 8 for 10 on his way to 19 points. JAMIR ROBERTS was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Decatur is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Pocomoke, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Decatur has already played their next game, a 59-48 win against Crisfield on the 3rd. As for Pocomoke, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 92-80 loss against Wicomico on the 30th.
