Preview: Mount View Golden Knights vs. Bluefield Beavers
Mount View is 2-8 against Bluefield since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mount View Golden Knights will be playing at home against the Bluefield Beavers at 6:45 p.m. Bluefield took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount View, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Mount View didn't have too much trouble with Van on the road as they won 51-33. The win was just what Mount View needed coming off of a 55-32 defeat in their prior match.
Mount View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthias Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Johnson scored 15 or more points. Jaron Hale was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Bluefield faced Shady Spring in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bluefield received a tough blow on Tuesday as they fell 55-38 to Shady Spring. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bluefield has scored all season.
Mount View's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Bluefield, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
