Basketball Recap: Center Gets the Win

Center picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They managed a 47-41 victory over the Swallows Charter Academy Spartans.

Swallows Charter Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mike Vazquez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. Vazquez has become a key player for Swallows Charter Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Christian Garcia, who posted seven points in addition to 14 rebounds and four steals.

Center's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Swallows Charter Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Center will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Rocky Ford at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Center is facing Rocky Ford at the right time seeing as Rocky Ford is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Swallows Charter Academy also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Crowley County at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
