Basketball Recap: Tuba City Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Tuba City's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They secured a 65-60 W over the Window Rock Fighting Scouts. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 74-68 back in December of 2024.

Tuba City had a senior duo take command as Deiondre Whiterock went 8 for 16 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals and Tyler Tsinnie posted 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whiterock has scored all season. Ethan Sheppard was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Tuba City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Window Rock still got an impressive performance from Jayden Lilly, who went 8 of 10 en route to 18 points along with five boards and three steals. Those 18 points gave Lilly a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Brown, who put up eight points and seven rebounds.

Tuba City has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points per game. As for Window Rock, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Tuba City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-49 loss against Page on the 3rd. Window Rock has also already played their next contest, a 54-53 victory against Monument Valley on the 1st.
